Mayuka Thaïs

-Singer-Songwriter, Artist, Art Specialist & Art Teacher, Elephant and Earth lover.
-I love art, elephants, the color blue, art history, singing, children, teaching, and thinking.
-I’m bicultural, bicoastal, & transnational (Mom Caucasian American & Dad Japanese)
-I’m a Tokyoite Californian born in San Francisco :)-I graduated from Otis College of Art & Design with Honors and majored in Fine Arts Painting & Art Education (K-12) so I love anything art related :] I also hold a Pre-school teaching license.
-I started singing for Columbia Music Entertainment (Japan) since I was 5 yrs old for bilingual multi-media edutainment products.
-A lover of art and Contemporary Artist whose artwork was exhibited in several galleries and art centers in Los Angeles.
-I am an Art Teacher for kids by day and a Folk singer/artist for adults at night. (I sing to my students too
I want to use my art and music to plant the seeds of compassion and respect for all living things in the hearts of children

地球と象をこよなく愛する、サンフランシスコ生まれのシンガー・ソングライター。東京都在住。日米の双方の文化と言語に精 通。昼間は美術教師、夜はミュージシャンの顔を持つ。5歳のとき、コロンビア・ミュージックにて最初のレコーディングを経験する。オーティス芸術デザイン 大学卒。（絵画と美術教育専攻）好きなものは、象、青色、美術＆美術史、子供、教育、瞑想、そして歌。理想は、生きるもの全てへの愛と敬意を次世代に伝え る事。2010年7月、バンド結成。現在に至る。

Mai was born in Tokyo.
She has started piano at age of 3. Sax at the elementary school.
She had also saxophone/Jazz private lessons with Seiichi Nakamura.
She attended at Senzoku gakuen college of Music.
Her major in musical theory and Harmony with Toshihiko Katori,  arrangements with Koichi Osamu ,Brazilian ensemble, Modern Jazz ensemble Big band ensemble, Japanese traditional instrumental, Jazz Sax with Bob Zang

In addition to studied music around the world like music of India, Bari, Thailand and Japanese traditional music,
At 2005 she graduated from college. And went to USA  for see roots of music
After backed to Japan she started work with Brazilian musician and knew many kinds of Brazilian music such as choro,Forró.
At 2007 and 2009 she went to Brazil, stadied with great saxphone player  Zé Canuto e Daniela Spielman.

東京都出身。2005年洗足学園音楽大学音楽学部ジャズコース卒業。

ジャズサックス、クラシックとジャズのピアノ、パーカッション、
箏、ブラジリアン・アンサンブル、アレンジング、ジャズハーモニー、
東南アジアやインドの音楽、民族音楽学、日本の伝統音楽などを学ぶ。
その後、ブラジル人との定期的な演奏をきっかけに、ボサノバ以外の
ブラジル音楽、ショーロ、サンバ、パゴージ、フレーヴォ、
フォホー等にも傾倒。

ブラジルにも何度か行き、様々なミュージシャンと交流。
サンバとフォホーを踊るのが大好き。
現在、東京、横浜近辺で演奏活動を行っている。
